CODE, 2018
CODE is an exhibition in the form of a vinyl record. Side A presents fragments of Byrke Lou’s glass sculptures, ctu_isbtm, processed through her sound-generating system, .fa. The system scans the sculptures via a live video feed, using brightness data to slice and recombine sound samples within a 4D virtual space, creating a unique sound shaped by the sculpture’s surface. Side B features a live coding session where these sounds are explored in real time. The vinyl inlay includes images from the video feed and text by artist AGF Poemproducer. During the release event, dancers interpreted the sounds, creating new movements inspired by the piece. This performance led to the development of code_xi, a series of site-specific performances incorporating live coding, the .fa system, visuals, and choreography. Funded by the Senator for Culture of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen.
