Byrke Lou produces site specific compositions, performances and installations of live electronic music. Performances of the artist often include translations between virtual and physical spaces, meaning they happen in virtual and physical space simultaneously. The performances can include custom instruments, traditional music instruments, and choreography. In her production process Byrke Lou employs instruments built by the artist, field recordings, and the latest technologies of sound synthesis. She makes use of artificial intelligence algorithms and relevant emerging technologies for extending her performance across digital devices. The artist mainly produces and performs by “live coding” music. This means, she writes code, which in real-time is translated into music. Byrke Lou’s performances and her sound work conceptually explore life in future, virtual worlds.
Byrke Lou played at documenta radio, SXSW in Austin, the CTM Festival in Berlin, and the Globe Theater in Los Angeles. Her sound art was exhibited at MMOMA, 2021, Moscow Russia, Museo Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, 2020-21, Madrid, Spain and Ars Electronica, 2013, Linz, Austria. She performed in numerous clubs just as galleries in Berlin and abroad.
